How They Met
Fate is a strange and wonderful thing, even for two middle schoolers! Ariel and Lauren know this better than anyone. Ariel and Lauren met during the innocent days of middle school but did not truly connect until high school, where Ariel played basketball, and Lauren was a cheerleader. Ariel always knew there was something special about Lauren that captured her attention. Still, that special connection wasn’t quite established at that time. Years later, and with an assist from social media, Ariel threw caution to the wind and reached out to Lauren, setting off a chain of events that would solidify their connection to each other and establish Lauren as the love of Ariel’s life!
The Proposal
“It’s time I take my relationship to the next level,” Ariel said through happy tears as she confided in her sister. The moment had come to take that next step, and it would require the help of Ariel’s family to plan and execute the perfect proposal. As Ariel set about planning the big moment, which included a wonderful proposal venue, the universe decided to play a cruel trick on the couple by unleashing a weather storm that would threaten to last the rest of the week. Ariel’s mom sprang into action to prevent her daughter’s unhappiness, offering her home as the backdrop for the big event. Ariel took Lauren to dinner, then concocted a pretext for stopping by her mother’s house to “pick up a key.” Upon arrival at the main event, Ariel went in first to prepare the scene, then enlisted her brother to coax Lauren into the house. As Lauren entered, she was shocked to find soft music playing in the background, a red carpet, and the letters “Will You Marry Me” prominently displayed for everyone to see! Overcome with emotion, Lauren began to cry as she walked down the red carpet toward Ariel’s loving embrace. “Never in a million years did I think I would be down on one knee,” Ariel said as she asked for Lauren’s hand in marriage. On that day, Ariel and Lauren transitioned from “girlfriends” to “fiancés.”
The Wedding
The Big Day had finally arrived, and the festivities were already underway at the beautiful Springs Event Venue in Angleton, TX. With two charming wedding venues to choose from, including the majestic Magnolia Manor, The Springs provided the ideal setting for the perfect wedding. With Lauren’s expert planning and supervisory skills on full display, the venue was transformed into the perfect wedding oasis. As Ariel put it, “all we had to do was show up and show out!”
The wedding planner began the festivities by leading the separate bridal parties for both brides through the ritual of makeup, Hair, and dressing, all in preparation
for an amazing photo session! With the photos complete, it was on to the ceremony! Butterflies and anxiety overtook Ariel as she prepared to marry the love of her life. The nervousness quickly subsided as time flew by, and the brides and the bridal parties lined up to begin what would be a truly fantastic wedding spectacle!
The Couple’s Favorite Moments
The reciting of the vows and the “I Do” were favorite moments in common for both Ariel and Lauren. And the kiss didn’t hurt either! As Ariel states, “we like to party!” so the Reception was the place to be on July 17, 2022! – Ariel & Lauren, Congratulations from Black Gay Weddings.
